Hi. My name is Walt Thiessen, and I am the founder of the Your Daily Dose Of Happy service.
I am also the host of the LOA Today podcast, subtitled Your Daily Dose of Happy.
The podcast is where the name for this service came from.
In September 2012, my life was spiraling out of control.
My financial situation had collapsed as a result of the 2008 financial crisis, which shattered my business model.
We were over $65,000 in debt, our savings was wiped out, as were both of our businesses, even though neither of us had anything to do with the real estate lending and mortgage collapse that precipitated the financial crisis.
Just before this chaos, I had heard of the movie “The Secret” and watched it, but it didn’t totally make sense to me.
It seemed pie-in-the-sky and unrealistic.
Yet, four years after the financial crisis “officially” ended, our own financial crisis was worse than ever.
I knew that something was wrong, and I needed to fix it.
We were so broke that I couldn’t afford to even buy a self-help book, let alone hire a coach!
Determined to find a solution, I started a podcast called “LOA Today” (Law of Attraction Today) to explore how the law of attraction works.
What I discovered along the way, however, was far more profound — the incredible joy and empowerment that comes from connecting with like-minded individuals in live, online conversations.
Over the years, I have produced over 2000 episodes of my podcast, and each episode leaves me feeling uplifted and energized.
I’ve had the privilege of interviewing hundreds of people, including:

To my surprise, those conversations were the most enlightening.

Plus, Filipinos generally learn their English by watching American movies and television programs.
So their accent is very easy for an American ear to comprehend and usually comes very close to sounding American.

In February 2024, I conducted an experiment with a young Filipino woman named Grace.
For 30 days, we connected five days a week through live video conversations, sharing our daily lives, discussing positive psychology, and intentionally focusing on positivity.
The results were astounding.
Both Grace and I experienced an emotional uplift, feeling 2 to 3 points better on a 10 point happiness scale by the end of each session.

Additionally, I experienced a significant average daily reduction in blood pressure.
I didn’t expect that!
I had been struggling with my BP for months.
Despite drastically reducing salt intake, increasing hydration, and regular exercise (walking or exercise bike riding), my average daily BP was still higher than I wanted it to be.
My average weekly BP (measured every day, twice a day, over the course of a week) had reached 136/81, considered normal for my age group (66 at the time) but higher than I wanted it to be.
My doctor said I was healthy and that I was doing all that could be done.
But I felt drained and dragged down each day.
Clearly, medical science could do no more to help me.
After 30 days of my sessions with Grace, my BP was down to a weekly average of 124/75, something I had been struggling to achieve for months.
90 days later, my average weekly BP was down to 110/66, a total net decrease of 26 and 15 points over a 120 day period.
This unexpected health benefit reinforced for me the power of our daily connections.
